"Oh come now, you remember me don't you? Calder? I know it's been a while since we last saw one another, but it hasn't been that long." The knight replies. Cass grits her teeth for a moment, trying to think of what to say. She couldn't remember anything of her past, so it was entirely possible that she did indeed know this man at some point. She glances briefly at Lockian and then back to the armored man. Before she could say anything in response though, he starts speaking again. "Anyway... we'll have time to catch up later I'm sure. But Lord Addaway will be pleased to see you've returned. C'mon, he's in the sitting room upstairs. I'm sure he'll be pleased to meet your companion as well" he says, motioning for the two to follow him inside the castle.

The only way that Lockian was betraying any of his tenseness right now was by the stiffness in the way he bore himself. He wasn't afraid of this man, Calder Lockian assumed his name was, not at all, it was just... he didn't know what. Lockian hesitated, were they just supposed to leave the horse and ALL their belongings at the front gate? But it wouldn't do to keep a lord waiting so he followed beside Cassidy. As they walked he tried to examine the castle as much as he could, he was unfortunately unable to study its defenses earlier, but there'd be time for all that later he supposed.

Cass glances back at the cart and waiting horse that stood outside the castle. She didn't quite like this situation... but it seemed there wasn't much of a choice in the matter. Hopefully everything would still be just as it was once they came back from them. After they walked up two rather ornate flights of stairs, Calder stops and nods towards a door at the end of the hallway. "He'll be in there" he says. Cass nods stiffly as she reaches forward to open up the door to the sitting room. It felt weirdly informal... to be meeting a lord in his sitting room rather than in a meeting hall. It just felt off, and it seemed that Lockian felt just as uneasy about the situation as she did. "Best head in then" she says, glancing at Lockian as she opened the door.

Lockian groaned inwardly when he saw the stairs, he was so tired, but he just gritted his and continued his march, they would rest eventually he told himself. It almost seemed colder inside the thick stone walls of the castle than it had been outside, though it did seem like this lord wanted things comfortable and decorative from the appearance of the stairs. He gave Calder a strange look after looking in the direction of his gesture. Wait? That's it? Just a 'he's right in there'? Where was the steward to show them in or any ceremonial guard or warden to receive their weapons? Lockian could tell that Cassidy felt just as uncomfortable about the situation as he was.

Once they were both inside, Cass shuts the door to the room. She found it odd that they had been allowed to keep their weapons... but she wasn't going to call attention to that. She'd much rather have her sword and her dagger on her person than have to give them up to some stranger, even if it was a stranger she supposedly knew. Upon hearing the door shut, Lord Addaway stands up to greet whomever had come in. "Saer Morel? You've returned... with company at that. My daughter will be most pleased to see you again after so long. Who's your companion?" He asks. His tone was warm... friendly even. That should have been reassuring, but it just wasn't. Cass couldn't remember him... but he seemed to know her. And apparently his daughter did as well? Had she been a soldier here? But then why would she know the lord's daughter? No... she had to have been something else entirely. "My apologies milord... but I seem to have no recollection of well... anything or anyone. I would greatly appreciate it if you could fill me on a bit of what I've lost" she says pausing. "This is Lockian... he's come with me seeking an opportunity to find work as a mercenary. As was I... but it would seem I may have already worked here" she says.

Lockian indeed found it exceedingly strange the the lord in fact stood up to greet them, something hardly if ever done among nobles to lesser folk, but apparently Cassidy was something more anyway. Despite all this Lockian executed a neat and low bow to the lord and straightened when he began speaking. He glanced at Cassidy when he heard that she was apparently friends with the daughter of this lord at some point in the past. Lockian dipped his head again when Cassidy acknowledged him to the lord but remained silent as the two spoke. He didn't know quite what he felt about this Addaway fellow, his bearing was one of geniality and complete ease, but was there something else?

"I'm sure we can find a position for him... but I trust you will be returning to your original post? Though if what you're saying is true, I suppose you don't remember do you?" Lord Addaway asks. He was inclined to believe that she truly had no recollection of any of this or any of them... she had been nothing but trustworthy in the past, always keeping his daughter safe. He'd have to get her so that the young lady could reunite with her. She had turned 18 in the time Cass had been absent... though in many ways she still seemed the child who had gotten very attached to the woman he had hired to protect her. "If you are still in need of my services... I will. However you are correct in surmising that I don't remember what that position is. I will need a refresher." Cass replies. "There will be time for all that on the morrow. But you two look like you could use some rest, you seem to be quite battered both of you. I'll have one of the staff show you two to some rooms for the night, and we can discuss matters more formally in the morning over breakfast if it pleases you both?" Lord Addaway says, looking at both of them.

''That is most generous my lord,'' Lockian replied, but while he said this he couldn't help but think about how strange and unnatural this lord was, he acted as if he were an equal rather than someone high up to get relaid orders from. What other wearer with a title of nobility would ask a few commoners to sit at breakfast with him? Also this apparent position Cassidy had owned earlier also puzzled him. Was the lord meaning she this girl's governess at some point? He shrugged inwardly and waited to see if he had anything else to say. He was glad that rest didn't seem far off he would need his strength for whatever the next rising of the sun would bring.

"Very good, I will have someone send for you both in the morning come breakfast time. In the meantime, please rest, recover. If either of you need medical care, the infirmary is open to you as well. I'll have Calder show you both to the rooms for the night." Lord Addaway says, motioning to Calder to have him come into the room. "Calder, please show them to their quarters for the night" he says to the knight. Calder nods slightly, dipping his head respectfully. "Of course milord" he says pausing. "Please, come with me. I'll show you to your rooms" he says, opening the door for the two of them to exit the sitting room again.

''Thank you my lord,'' Lockian said bowing before turning and following Caldur out the door. He was really tired and a bed did indeed sound very good. He didn't think that he would need the infirmary, in fact he would stay away from them as much as he could, in his mind all doctors were the same. Anyway his wounds were healing well and clean and he knew he would probably be to full health within a week or two, though he knew he would always have the scars to tell the story. He glanced at Cassidy as they walked through the halls towards their rooms, he wondered what she thought of all this.

Out of the corner of her green eye, Cass could see Lockian glance at her as they walked. She turns her head slightly. "Copper for your thoughts?" She asks. He seemed to be wondering something. Whether or not she had answers, well that was another matter. But if he had a question, then she wouldn't snap at him for simply asking. Calder was up ahead as they made their way down the hallway... it irked her that he seemed to know her, yet she couldn't remember him try as she might. Nor could she remember Lord Addaway... or his daughter for that matter. Yet apparently she had known them both at some point. It made her head pound, though part of that was probably the infection. She would need to apply that salve so that it could get to work. The sooner she kicked the infection, the sooner her wounds would follow suit and heal. Until then, she just had to tend to them.

Lockian glanced ahead to their guide then leaned in towards Cassidy, ''does the lord Addaway strike you as a rather strange fellow, I mean who else would treat those of lesser status with the level of equality as he did. I suppose the only reason that he is showing me favor is because I'm with you, it does seem like you and he used to know each other well though,'' he told her in a low voice. He shrugged, ''I suppose both of us will understand more tomorrow,'' he said with some resignation.

"I wish I could say... but I can't even be certain that I really did know him in the past. I remember none of this... this place, these people. He could be taking advantage of my blank slate of a past for all I know in order to have another sword. Though... why he would be so hospitable if that were the case I don't know. I suppose it's just as possible that he's being truthful. If nothing else, I suppose as least we'll have warm beds tonight if nothing else." Cass says. She turns her head slightly as Calder stops in front of two ornate wooden doors. "Your rooms, I'll be by in the morning to bring you two to the dining hall for breakfast" he says, dipping his head slightly before turning to return down the hallway, leaving them to their own devices for the night.

Lockian nodded, he supposed he would have to resign himself to this, no doubt he would learn more through time. But still the odd civility that the lord showed him and Cassidy still bothered him somewhat with its unnaturalness. When they were lead up to the doors to their bedrooms Lockian raised an eyebrow, “private rooms? Also very different,” he said when Caldur had left them.

"They may yet be adjoined... we won't know until we go inside." Cass says, reaching forward to grasp the ornate door handle. She couldn't remember this place, so she couldn't be sure if the rooms would indeed be private, or adjoined by a door. She had no way of knowing what Lord Addaway assumed about them, given that they had come here together. He had simply referred to Lockian as her companion, and that belied little of what he thought. But either way, it seemed they'd have access to a bed and a washroom. That would be nice after spending all day on the road.
