Cass chuckles dryly as she watches the blood bay stallion nip at the knight who had apparently been tasked with training him. The knight fixes her with a glare. "I suppose you could do better? That horse is a monster. He's been 'ere a month already and nobody can so much as get close to the monstrous beast" he mutters, glaring at the stallion who's ears were pinned back. Cass quirks an eyebrow slightly. "No animal is truly a monster" she says flatly.

Lockian checked the water bucket, sure enough, it was frozen. He unsheathed his dirk and crushed the ice and got to the liquid water beneath. He heard the exchange between Cassidy and a very surly voiced knight. He leaned his elbow and glanced at the dark blood bay horse from where he stood at Phantom's stall, and watched the exchange, switching his face to one of impassiveness.

"If that horse isn't a monster, then why don't you give it a go lady? I doubt you can do much better." The knight mutters. "Alright, I will." Cassius says, ignoring the way the knight scoffed in response. Clearly he either didn't think she stood a chance, or he didn't think that she would actually do it. She steps closer to the stall, keeping her movements slow and deliberate so that the horse could see what she was doing. She didn't want to take the animal by surprise, especially since it seemed like the stallion had been abused in the past. "Easy fellow, I'm not going to hurt you" she says, reaching over slowly to place a hand on his neck. The stallion snorts, his ears pinned back still. Though he made no move to nip her like he had the knight. Eventually, his ears relax slightly. He was still wary, but he was starting to realize that he was safe.

Lockian watched as Cassidy approached the horse, he didn't know how this would exactly finish in the end but she seemed to be going about it pretty well. Though still he did not switch his expression. He wondered if Cassidy would ask the lord Addaway if she could have the horse or purchase it, they seemed to make a good match, she still had all her fingers after all, Lockian thought to himself.

The knight threw up his hands in frustration. "You got lucky, I've been training horses for years. Try that again and he'll take off those fingers of yours. I'm sure of it" he mutters. Cass quirks an eyebrow slightly, one gloved hand still resting on the stallion's neck. "Maybe I did, and maybe I didn't. I think I'll take the risk. He doesn't seem to have any desire to take my fingers at the moment" she replies. The horse just needed time to realize that touch wasn't always a bad thing. He probably hadn't been touched gently before. He was young, no more than three or four from the look of his teeth. But his short life couldn't have been easy before now.

Lockian approached but still stayed a small distance away, he didn't want want to frighten the horse and ruin the trust Cassidy had made with it, ''nice job Cassidy,'' he said and a low voice, leaning back against one of the pillars. He ignored the other knight, not even bothering to try and make civil conversation with him. He looked at the horses body, he didn't seem to be built for speed but rather for endurance and for carrying heavy equipment.

"I didn't do all that much... he just needs a bit of patience." Cass says, looking over the large stallion. He was certainly an impressive animal, a well bred destrier from the looks of it. He was seemingly built to carry knights in battle, likely able to handle the weight of full plate armor as well as the heavy weaponry a knight would need to carry. A horse like that normally would be quite expensive, though because most people seemed to judge him as being unsafe to even get near, he had probably sold for a lot less than a horse like him normally would.

Lockian smiled, ''well he seems to like you a lot. Does he have a name,'' he questioned. He rubbed his chin in the way he does whenever he is thinking. ''He would be good suit for you Cassidy, as a war horse I mean.'' Though Cassidy did not specify that she was joining any calvary, still it was useful for any fighting person to have a horse they can depend upon when needed.

"I'm not sure... he doesn't have a plaque on his stall door like some of the others. Probably because nobody could get close enough to nail one over his stall." Cass says, patting the horse's neck lightly. He snorts quietly but still doesn't make any move to nip her. He would need time to really get used to being touched, but progress was progress no matter how small. It was probably still too early to try entering his stall. He was a large stallion, and if he spooked he could easily do a lot of damage. "You think so? He does seem to have the makings of a fine war horse. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to see if Lord Addaway is willing to sell him" she says. It didn't seem like the knight he had hired to train the horse could handle him, so maybe Lord Addaway would be willing to sell him.

''I do,'' Lockian affirmed, ''yes indeed, it most deftly would not do any harm to at least find out if he was at least willing.'' He looked down the long line of stalls that stretched in either direction. There were many fine horses there, at least of the few he could see poking their heads over their stall doors. He noticed a pure swan white mare not far away, that had to be the horse of the Lord Addaway's daughter, a gentle looking mare, he thought.

"I'll have to talk to him when I get a chance. He's definitely an intriguing horse." Cass says, carefully brushing his forelock out of his eyes so that he could see a bit better. He'd probably need to see a farrier soon... and to have a bit of a clipping as well. Though even though it had seemingly been a while since he had either done, he still cut an impressive figure. He'd need more work though before that day came since he probably wouldn't let the farrier near enough to work properly. Thankfully his hooves didn't look terribly overgrown. If Lord Addaway was willing to sell him, then she could get all of that taken care of so that the horse would be more comfortable.

''I agree,'' Lockian said looking the horse over once more. ''Anyways, I was thinking of visiting the armory or training arena next, I would like to see what they have got around here.'' The Lord Addaway was certainly a wealthy person, even above some nobility standards. No doubt he accommodates his fighting men well and would give them all they needed to perform their best and keep their skills honed.

"Would be good to get reacquainted with this place, training arena and armory included. Or I suppose just acquainted in your case." Cass says. For now, the stallion could probably use some time to decompress in any case. Even just having a hand on his neck for a short period of time was probably a lot for him. After they had explored the place a bit, she could see about putting together an offer to buy the horse off of Lord Addaway. He had several horses, and this one was going to be a handful to work with, so for the right price she had a feeling that the lord would probably be willing to sell him. He could put the gold towards a horse with a more even temperament.

''I find that it would probably be wise to find my way around the place,'' he said with a smile. He found the training arena and armory quite interesting and told himself that he would visit again very soon. ''Are you going up to Addaway,'' Lockian asked as the left the arena. He hoped she would get the horse, he needed someone who understood him more than that heavy handed knight he had met earlier.

"I will be, after I've gotten a better feel of this place. Probably tonight. I'll have to see how much gold I've got left so I can put together an offer. He's a well bred horse, so he'll be worth a fair bit." Cass says. If she was able to purchase him then she could begin to work with him in earnest beyond simply approaching him from outside the stall. He certainly needed a fair bit of work, but he seemed to have a lot of potential from what she could see of him. Phantom seemed to as well, though the gelding would need to be desensitized to the sounds and smell of war if he were to be a warhorse.
