“It did seem so,” Lockian said thoughtfully. “Perhaps trying to forget it would be the best route to take, for sanity’s sake at least, make a new life for yourself and find a new purpose,” he said fidgeting with a ring on his finger.

"Sadly that's easier said than done. I might not remember them... but it's hard to ignore the fact that I must have had a family. Not when most everyone around me has loved ones." Cass says, looking down at the dark liquid in her goblet. "I suppose there's always drinking myself into a stupor. Might need something harder than cider to do that though. Getting completely drunk hardly seems appealing though. Nor professional. So best avoid that" she mutters. She'd just have to deal with it. Though starting tomorrow she'd have work to distract from it.

“Well,” he said after a while, “I’ll be here to help you, same as you have done for me, I’ve no plans of leaving any time soon,” he said with a smile. Lockian raised an eyebrow, “I don’t think heavy drinking will help you much, for a couple hours, sure, but afterwards it will only leave you with a crack of a headache and a feeling of absolute stupidity. Believe me, I know,” he added under his breath.

"I appreciate that." Cass says. At least she had someone she mused. "That's precisely why I don't feel it would be appealing. I'm not planning on actually drinking myself into a stupor. Merely stating that it would be an option. Not a good one mind, but it is an option" she says. She'd cut herself off after this glass. That wasn't a path she wanted to take. It was just a thought after all. But it wasn't a solution. She doubted there were any solutions. She just had to deal with it.

Lockian nodded, he knew that drinking down one’s troubles was a tempting and often temporary relief, but in the end it didn’t help matters any, in fact it often made things even worse than they were before. He sighed and stretched his arms before settling down comfortably again, they would have probably get to bed soon… later. “So,” he said sitting up again, “what do you think your going to have to do with the lord’s daughter, just… bodyguard her?”

"Most likely,I would assume that is what a personal guard does. I'm not sure what else the job might entail. I suppose it's possible I'll double as some sort of servant or lady-in-waiting. I certainly hope that's not the case. I don't think I'd be suited to such domestic tasks." Cass says, taking another sip from her goblet.

Lockian thought for a moment, “it possibly may entail that, but who knows. If anything it won’t be anything hard, not like combat training or anything of that sort,” he said with a shrug, “you definitely are going to have it a lot easier than me, you get you old and high position back, that Caldur fellow even spoke with respect towards you, but I’ve got to build up,” he said with a laugh, laying his head on his fist and staring into the flames. He got up and threw a few blocks into the flames sending bright red sparks dancing up the chimney pipe. “You know,” he said after settling back down again, “perhaps later on you can teach me a few blade tricks, I’ve learned basic but nothing past.”

"Everyone has to start somewhere. I'm sure must have had to have put in the same work you'll be putting in now to get where I am. Even if I don't remember those years." Cass says. Honestly she'd probably prefer the rigorous training since it would help with staying in shape. But she'd make good money with her old position, and she'd just have to make time to maintain her physique. "I don't see why not. Just let me know when you'd like to give it a try" she says.

“That is very true,” Lockian said, “though don’t get me wrong I am still looking forward to it greatly. With what a night position it is I would have no doubt of it,” he responded honestly, to be the guardian of a nobal’s daughter was definitely not a job for anyone, and would not be given to just anyone either. He smiled, “thanks, I suppose we will see about time after I find out how much leisure I shall be given,” he said.

"It's good for the health too. Being too sedentary is never good." Cass says. She couldn't remember what she was like before. But at least now she was finding that she preferred to be doing something physical whenever she could be. Just standing around didn't suit her. So hopefully Lord Addaway's daughter would be content to remain on the move. At least it didn't seem like she was a governess. "I'm sure you'll be given ample free time. Nobody can work twenty-four seven" she says.

Yes it is,” Lockian always had enjoyed physical work mainly because his body just didn’t allow him to sit quietly for long periods of time so in a way active work actually calmed him down. “I hope,” he said, “but I have no idea what the standards are here, I may be way below expectation and will have to train harder to build myself up. I did glimps at a few archers in the training arena earlier today, what they were doing seemed easy, so mayhap things will go alright, but then again, one never knows.”

"I suppose there's always that possibility. But I'm you'll do fine. You just need time to gain the experience to do well. You know how to use a bow, albeit not in a combat scenario from what I gather. But that's a start. And we all need to start somewhere." Cass says.

“Did alright with the brigands,” Lockian countered with a smile, “I even got one of them, would have taken care of the other too,” he said, “turns out a dirk can do alright in hand to hand fights, but I don’t think I shall have it as my chosen weapon,” he said jokingly.

"That you did." Cass agrees. "However dealing with a group of brigands is very different from an armed battalion. You won't want to go up against trained soldiers without more experience" she says as she opens up the armoire to put away her cloak.

“That is precisely the reason why I am planning on going to go into training as soon as I possibly can,” Lockian said standing and stretching he limbs once more, “anyways, I need to go and see to Phantom before going to bed, which I also want to do very soon,” he threw a few more fagots into the fire to ensure that it would be warm upon his return from the stables.
