"Are you planning on going to bed without supper?" Cass asks as she hangs up her cloak. As she does so, something catches her eye in the corner of the armoire. A lute? Had she played in the past? Though she supposed it was mystery she didn't have an answer to.

“Hmm I don’t normally have much for evening meal,” Lockian answered, “but I probably should eat something before I get into bed,” he consented. He glanced back before going towards the door, “what’s that? A lute, he questioned.

"Probably best to have something at least, especially since tomorrow is bound to be a busy day. Might not have time for much of a breakfast." Cass says. She probably wouldn't get too much either, but it was better than having nothing. Maybe just a bit of jerky, hardtack, and a handful of nuts or dried fruit. "Looks like it, not something I would have expected to find in there" she says, grabbing the neck of the wooden instrument to pull it out and check to see if it was indeed a lute or not.

“You’re right, I’ll have something after I get back from the horse. Lockian smiled, “looks like you had a musical side to you too,” he said approaching Cassidy, “quite a nice instrument that is,” he said inspecting the instrument in Cassidy’s hands.

"I suppose I must have... that or it belonged to someone in my family and was passed down." Cass says, her mismatched gaze studying to wooden instrument. It appeared to be well kept and in good condition. The strings looked like they were in good shape anyway. It was weird, finding these little tidbits of information but feeling no real concrete connection to any of them.

“D’you think you can still play,” he asked. Lockian glanced out the window, “hmm I should get to Phantom before it gets any later,” he said. Lockian opened the door and closed it behind him quickly making his way down to the stables.

"I'm not sure... maybe." Cass says. She wasn't sure how that would work. She couldn't remember the notes, but maybe certain songs would have been converted to muscle memory like it had with her ability to use a sword. She remembered how to do that, so perhaps she could still play too. Though she wasn't sure if she could make that work with her left and the fingers on her right were stiff with scar tissue. But there was only way to find out. She nods slightly, her gaze turning to the door as it shuts before she makes her way over to one of the armchairs.

It did not take Lockian long to take care of Phantom. The bloodbay was still in his stall but he had been fed and watered already so all seemed at rights there. As he walked toward the door he was stopped suddenly, “hey,” someone called behind him. Lockian turned and saw Danen, the man he met the day they had arrived. Lockian turned back and saw Danen standing holding the reins of a dark grey stallion. Lockian smiled, “nice horse,” he complimented. Danen looked at the animal, “tis,” he said patting its nose, “will I see you tomorrow?” “Possibly, I believe I will be enlisted with the archers,” Lockian answered. “Hey, so am I, he glanced around suddenly, “but I have to go now,” he led the horse back to the stable. Lockian nodded, “see you later,” he said walking out of the stables.

Cassidy's mismatched gaze linger on the fire, watching the flames as they almost seemed to dance in the hearth. The wooden lute was resting in her lap. She had spent a bit trying to contemplate whether or not she still could play. It appeared as though she might have been able to one day. But at this point... it felt like she was a completely different person, completely disconnected from whatever life she had before. It was a strange feeling, one that was hard to put to words no matter how hard she might try to do so. She flexes the stiff fingers on her right hand absent-mindedly, glaring at them briefly when they were slow to respond. That did irk her some, but there was nothing she could do about it beyond work with them as best she could and favoring her left for anything strenuous.

Lockian quickly passed through the hall and opened the door of their room after rubbing stiff and cold hands to warm them. He sighed after closing the door, the warmth enveloping him, “really got cold out there,” he said sinking into his chair, “you get to figure out the instrument,” he asked once he was sufficiently thawed.

"It's warm in here at least. The fire should warm you up nicely." Cass says, gazing back into the fire. "Not yet... got lost in thought I suppose" she says. Maybe she might be able to play it. If it was muscle memory then she might be able to.

“Aye,” Lockian said. “That is true, perhaps you should give it a try.” He settled down further into his chair and shut his eyes, soaking in the warmth from the flames. This was probably the best part of cold weather, sitting by a warm fire knowing that the icy wind was banished to the outside.

"Only way to find out." Cass says, slipping the glove off her right hand. If it came down to muscle memory and she could get her fingers to cooperate, then maybe she could. She couldn't remember any specific songs or notes, but a lot of it was probably muscle memory and it seemed that she at least hadn't forgotten that, or at least as not as far as using her sword was concerned. She grips the neck of the instrument in her left, bringing her right up to the strings.

Lockian got up suddenly to throw a few more logs to build up the fire once more, it was unfortunate that the wood they had chopped was not of a long burning kind, but even so the amount they had gotten was most likely going to last them at least till the next day especially since they were not going to keep the fire up all day tomorrow.

Cass looks up from the wooden instrument as Lockian suddenly got up. "How are we doing on wood?" She asks. She doubted they would need more tonight, but it didn't hurt to check in and make sure.
