Lockia looked up, “good for tonight,” he answered, “we may need to get some more tomorrow depending. But we’ll see.” He got up and went to the window, and looked out at the darkening sky, “what about the instrument,” he asked quietly, his breath misting on the window glass.

"If need be I can head into the woods before work to chomp some more." Cass says pausing. "Just getting my fingers to cooperate and then we'll see. Apologies in advance if it turns out I can't" she says, flexing the stiffened fingers slightly before bringing them to the strings. Eventually, muscle memory takes over. She couldn't quite recognize the tune, but something about it was almost familiar. It wasn't quite a memory though, just a sense of nostalgia.

“You may have to,” Lockian said, “but we won’t be burning all day so we will see.” Lockian smiled, he didn’t expect her to play perfectly her first try but he did get quite the surprise at the nearly flawless tune that passed through the instrument. He recognized the melody well enough for it was old and well known, “that sounded very good,” he said once the song had ended.

"I wish I could say I remember it. But I don't know where I might have heard it. Something about it is familiar though." Cass says, leaning the lute up against the armchair. She wasn't sure how to describe the feeling. It was complicated. The song wasn't a fast paced march, it was more akin to a lullaby from the sound of it. Which only made her wonder further. If she was familiar enough with a lullaby to be able to play it straight from muscle memory... even now... then what did that mean? Was it a remnant of a childhood long forgotten? Or something else entirely?

“I believe I’ve heard it once or twice, I had a sister who could play a little, though not quite as smoothly as you,” he said with a grin and a faraway look on his face. He turned and resumed his seat, “how do you think we should go about getting ourselves a meal,” he asked.

"I have no idea where I could have heard it. It doesn't seem to be an uncommon song, so I suppose I could have heard it just about anywhere." Cass says pausing. "Depends on what you're in the mood for. If you're okay with hardtack, some jerky and a handful of nuts and dried fruit then we needn't go anywhere. If you want something more substantial then we'd have to look elsewhere" she says.

Lockian shrugged, ''no, I am good with that,'' he said getting up again and searching through the luggage. He returned with a couple sacks of full of their leftover provisions from the journey away from Stormhaven, he opened one and took out a few strips of dried apples. They had a slightly stale taste to them but he didn't really care, besides twas a hardy meal that would keep them filled for a while.

"It'll definitely do trick." Cass says, pulling out a small drawstring bag filled with a variety of mixed nuts. The mix of nonperisheable foods had gotten through the journey. It would get them through another night.

Lockian ate some more fruit and meat before he deemed himself content and sat back with a quiet sigh, it had been a long day seemingly yet it felt as if he had really done nothing though he knew it would be helpful in the near future to know where the places they had visited were located.

After pouring a small handful of nuts from the bag, Cass returns it over to her backpack and takes a seat in the armchair again. There was definitely a lot to mull over as of late. From a past that she had long forgotten to what the morrow would bring when she started work. She'd have to take care not to reinjure her shoulder, but she doubted the day would be too eventful since she would only really be keeping an eye on Lord Addaway's daughter.

Lockian stood suddenly, ''I think I shall be getting to sleep,'' he said taking up the remainder of the food and returning it to their places, ''I'll have to get up earlier anyway to make sure and get to the town and back before work begins.'' He walked through the door adjoining their rooms and began preparing for bed.

"Night" Cass says. She would probably head to bed soon enough herself as well. But she would take a bit longer to enjoy the peace and quiet of night first before she did. Tomorrow was likely going to be a busy day with work and all.

Lockian changed out of the clothes he had been wearing that day and donned his last set of clean clothing, wondering briefly if he would be able to get them cleaned soon. After washing his face and completely drenching his hair in the winter cooled water, he dried and pulled back the covers of his bed. He laid down and pulled up the blankets tightly, even with the blazing fire the room was still chilly.

Cass grabs another armload of wood from the stack by the hearth and adds it to the fire to ensure the rooms would remain warm. She would probably need to head out early in the morning before work to chop some more wood, since she likely wouldn't have time to do so later on in the day. With how cold the weather was getting already, that was something that they would need to stay on top of if they wished to stay warm.

Lockian lay awake for some time, trying to will himself to sleep, hands comfortably behind his head as he stared up at the dark wooden ceiling, he could just make out a few of the carvings in the dim and uncertain lighting and traced them silently with his eyes. He could feel his body was tired and was craving rest but sleep was slow in coming. Most likely this was because of thought of the next day, his mind coudnt seem to lay still for a while and his eyelids were avidly against closing. But eventually as time wore on his mind slowed down and he finally fell into a light sleep.
