Winter nodded. “I know.” She whispered, as she lay her head down. “Good night Skylar, I love you” winter said as she leaned her muzzle up to lick his nose before laying back down. Her eyes closed and she fell asleep against her mate. Everything would be different the next day…everything was changing. Winter and Skylar would be living in a pack again, after a few months of living alone in the wild, they’d be back with a pack.

''Goodnight my love,'' Skylar said softly, laying his head down beside his mate's and giving a contented sigh. The moonlight filtered into their cave causing odd shaped shadows on the wall. He liked this place a lot and was kind of sad that they had to leave it, but it was for the best, he told himself. His family deserved a better life. With that thought his dark eyes closed and soon he was asleep.

Storm woke his pack early the next morning with a commanding howl. “My pack. Today brings….interesting news as yesterday my Luna and I encountered the wolf, along with her mate and four pups, who’s been living on our territory. I have given them the choice to join us.” Storm said as murmurs erupted throughout the pack. Storm lifted his tail for silence and all went quiet. “Should they choose to join, they will be joining us at Sun high.” He said. “Hadassa and Griffin, id like the two of you to go find out their answer and then escort them back if they choose to join.” Storm said. When both wolves nodded, Storm dismissed the pack with a howl.

Winter woke up early the next morning. “Today’s the day” she whispered to Skylar. “We should get ready.” She said, meaning groomed and eaten.

The rest of the pack howled along with their alpha. They cocked their ears attentively to hear what he had to say, then started talking amongst themselves at the prospect of new pack mates. One wolf in particular snarled quietly, he didn't like new wolves joining his pack, Hook stalked away and laid down in the shade of some trees, ''we'll see how long these dogs stay once they meet me,'' he hissed quietly to himself. Haddasa nodded to the alpha and raced off into the forest towards the den she knew Skylar and Winter stayed, ''I really hope they join,'' she yipped to Griffin.

Skylar opened his eyes and lifted his head, ''it is,'' he said, ''You are right, we should be ready to go once they come to get us. Do you know if we have any meat left over from when I went out to hunt last,'' he asked his mate.

Griffin nodded in agreement. “Me too, but I don’t know how Hook will feel.” Griffin said as he trotted along side his mate.

Winter shook her head. “I don’t think so.” Winter whispered as she began to groom their pups. “They don’t need to be awake, but they should at least look presentable.” Winter said.



Ivory trotted after her mate as he ran away. “Hook?” Ivory asked softly

Hadassa nodded gravely, “I hope he won’t do anything to them,” she said nervously, “he can be so mean sometimes!”

Skylar stood and went to the back of their den to see how much meat was left. He dragged back a leg of a deer, “yep you are right,” he said dropping it near her. He gentle grabbed lichen between his teeth by the scruff and started carefully grooming her even as she tried to squirm from between his paws.

Hook looked up briefly as he was broken from his reverie, “hmm, what is it Ivory,” he asked when he noticed his mate walk up.

"Yea...I hope Ivory can talk to him about it" Griffin said as he nuzzled his mate and they trotted into Winter and Skylar's den. The parents were currently grooming their four sleeping pups. "Winter, Skylar" Griffin said. Winter jumped. "Griffin, hi" Winter said softly. "What have you chosen?" Griffin asked. Winter looked at her mate, and she nodded to him, indicating he tell them as she finished up grooming the pups.

Ivory nuzzled her mate. "come on Hook, I saw the look in your eye when Storm mentioned new members."

Hadassa nodded, “me too.” She quickly licked Griffin back and smiled before stepping into the well known lone wolves’ den. She sat down lightly with a gentle smile to the pups as Griffin spoke. Skylar looked up as he just finished grooming his daughter, Lichen. He took a deep breath steady before replying, “my mate and I have agreed to join your pack here answered finally and with the air of final determination.

Hook let out a huff, “it’s new comers,” he said darkly, “they don’t belong here. Storm should not allow unknown strangers into our pack,” he answered his pale eyes flaming.

Winter nodded and nuzzled her pups gently before she looked up at Hadassa and Griffin. “Will you help us carry them?” She asked. Griffin nodded. “Of course. You wouldn’t be able to carry all four of them” he said.

Ivory sighed. “Hook….if these wolves are in danger, don’t you want to help them?” She asked. “Look, I don’t like this idea much either, but it’s a mother of four pups and her mate. They won’t be safe in the wild alone.”

Hadassa nodded and smiled, she bent down and gently picked up an adorable white furred puppy. She wondered briefly what its name was as she trotted out of the den close to Griffin. Skylar licked his mate quickly when the two scouts were out of the den, “well, here we go,” he said with a small smile before lifting up Brechin in his strong but careful jaws.

Hook curled his lips in an unattractive manner, “there is probably a reason why they were kicked out of their old pack,” he said with an audible growl in his voice, “besides, what kind of wolves are we if we randomly allow strange wolves into our pack after the first meeting?!” It was known that Hook did not very much like the Alpha Storm and tried to disagree with him in everything the leader said or suggested.

Winter nodded a little nervously. "Yep..." She said, as she picked up Eclipse in her jaws. Her tail swished behind her nervously as she followed after Hadassa and Griffin. She glanced at Skylar every so often as they continued the walk to the pack. Was this really a good idea? Winter wondered to herself as they walked. There was no turning back now. As they neared the pack, she could hear multiple wolves howling quietly as they walked into the camp. The alpha they had met the day before was waiting for them. "Welcome" He said with a bright smile. "I'm glad you chose to join us" Storm said, standing on his paws. "I'll show you to the off-duty den, which is where my mate currently is." He said, with a proud smile as he turned and lead the two parents to the den. He pushed his way inside and then went over to his mate. "Etain, you remember Winter and Skylar." He said quietly as Winter set down Eclipse in a bed and lay down herself as the other two wolves set Avalanche and Lichen down. Winter smiled a little nervously but tried to stay relaxed.

Ivory swiveled her tail back and forth. "Hook....please." She whispered. "We don't know if they got kicked out of their pack, for all we know, they could've been separated." She said

Skylar noticed his mates furtive glances and his heart reached out to her, he knew that this had to be hard for her. They had to leave a pack to stay together and now they had to join one to do the same. He suddenly scented wolves very strongly and realized that they must be nearing the camp. He saw the Alpha and nodded at his words as he wasn’t very much able to talk with a pup in his mouth. The off-duty den looked very comfortable and he thought his mate would be happy here until their pups were grown, he put down young Brechin down near his mate. Etain smiled kindly at the newcomers, “hello,” she said cheerfully, she leaned down and whispered to the pups, “pups, go say hi.” They hung back for a little bit soon gathered their courage and ran up to the new pups. Skylar turned to Storm, “thank you for your kindness,” he said meaningfully.

“What do I care,” Hook said with a huff, “but don’t you worry, I’ll get rid of them soon enough. We need to follow the way of the wolves,” he stood and disappeared into the forest.

Eclipse stared at the pups that came running up to her. She blinked and slunk closer to her mother, staring up at her with wide eyes. Avalanche on the other paw...well he was curious as can be. He looked at his mother. "mama..." he muttered. Winter nudged him gently. "Its ok, Avalanche, you can say hi" Winter said as her son crept a bit closer to the other pups.

Storm dipped his head. "of course." He said. "Skylar, eventually I will give you a duty to serve, but for right now, you and your mate can get settled in." He said, before licking his own mate. "I will be back shortly" He promised her before leaving the den.

Ivory was unable to say anything before Hook disappeared. She flattened her ears to the back of her head and heaved a sigh. Hook needed to see that these new comers were not going to harm them, no matter what he thought....and there had to be a way to show him that. Ivory just wasn't so sure that he would ever come around.

Arling crept up carefully to Eclipse, ''h-hi,'' he said with a shy smile, ''my name's Arling. Brechin at once was among the other pups and became friends, soon rolling on the ground in a ground tussle with Rain. Lichen stood on the sidelines and watched the other pups her tail wagged back and forth gently as she watched her siblings play and run.

''Of course Alpha, I will be glad to serve anywhere in which I may be of service to you and your pack,'' he said bowing. When the alpha left he walked over to his mate and laid down carefully beside her, ''how are you,'' he asked quietly, licking her nose.

Winter shrugged. "This is all just...so strange" She admitted to her mate as Avalanche went over to say hello to the other pups. Eclipse was looking curiously at the pup called Arling. "M-My name's Eclipse" Eclipse said as she stared uncertainly at the new pups. Brechin was already playing with them. Avalanche was getting used to everything and working up to courage to play himself when Eclipse glanced at her parents. "c...can I play?" she asked hopefully.
