Twilight gave a relieved sigh. "Good, I'm glad" she said softly, then nodded "yes, I know... but we will. We found them when we were little, we can find them again now. But... how long has it been?" she questioned again.

"yes, we found them when we were little, but that was only because we hadn't been gone long. It could take us months to find them this time." Midnight sighed. "at least we'll be together the entire way." She looked towards the barn and watched as the humans left for the night and the lights went out. Soon, cars were driving down the path and out of the barn grounds. "its now or never." she said

Twilight sighed, knowing her sister was right. But they would find them. They had to. Surely they would have left some clue for them to follow... something!
Looking over at the barn to double check, she nodded. "Yes, Now." she agreed, glancing over the fencing. "We'll have to jump over" she said, frowning at the fence.

"We haven't jumped in a while..." midnight muttered, suddenly pinning her ears. "ok...ill go first and meet you on the other side." she backed up a bit, pawed at the ground and started galloping towards the fence. She flew over it and landed neatly on the other side. "Made it" she called. "you're turn" her heart was pounding for her sister. She was half scared her sister wouldn't make it across, but she knew Twilight well enough to know she could jump.

Twilight held her breath as Midnight threw herself over the fence, then let it out as she landed perfectly."Coming!" she whinnied, her eyes narrowing. Backing up a bit more she set her eyes on the spot she wanted to jump and charged forward. A few strides away she thrust herself into the air, tucking her legs up underneath her as she soared over the fence, landing slightly harder than Midnight. Shaking her mane she took a few steps to get rid of the sudden soreness in her joints, then nodded to Midnight. "Ok, it's time to get out of here" she said firmly.

"Which way do we go?" she asked. It was pitch black and nothing looked familiar around here. "I have an idea!" she said suddenly. "how about we get far enough away to the point where we cant see the barn, and then settle down for the night before finding the herd tomorrow?" she suggested. "it seems like the best idea as we don't know where we are and we can't see 10 feet ahead of us." Midnight squinted, but all she could see was darkness

Twilight looked around, ears flattening. She had no idea which way they'd come from in the beginning. She glanced over at Midnight at her exclamation, listening to her idea, then nodding in agreement. "Yes, that sounds like the best idea for now. But we'll have to make sure we wake up really early so we can get away quickly." she added, tentatively beginning to move forwards, in the opposite direction of where the cars had gone.

Midnight nodded and they started making their way into the trees. After a while, Midnights feet started dragging on the ground, her head down and tail drooping. "twily" she muttered sleepily. "can we stop for the night?" she yawned and trotted to catch up to her sister, her feet screaming at her with every step she took. She couldn't walk anymore. Midnight nudged her sister slightly. "can we stop please?" she asked again, her eyes starting to clsoe.

Twilight quickly surged forward at a steady fast walk, her hooves eating up the darkness as she set her thoughts towards their herd. A few hours later she heard a mutter behind her and slowed, looking over as Midnight drooped next to her. A gentle smile set in and she stopped, looking around the dark area. Thankfully, her eyes had gotten a lot more used to the darkness while walking. "Ok sis, there's some good underbrush over here, we should be safe and hidden, we can rest for a few hours" she replied, gently nuzzling her and nudging her towards the spot.

Midnight smiled and settled herself down on the soft grass beside her sister. The underbrush was warm and quiet. Midnight yawned and slowly but surely Midnights eyes slowly closed and she fell asleep. She woke up early the next morning to bright sunshine shining through the bush. She poked her head out and looked around. Still, nothing looked familiar. Midnight pulled her head back in and nudged her sister. "its morning" she said. Her tiredness had faded and her body was ready to start their journey. "if we are going to make it back to the herd before the first snow fall of the year, we need to hurry." she added

Twilight lay down, waiting for twilight to lie down as well before settling her head down on the grass. In moments she was asleep, much more tired than she realized. She was awoken by Midnight's refreshed voice, opening her eyes and yawning widely before getting to her feet and shaking herself. "Yep, you're right, we need to keep moving. Let's cover as many miles as possible today." she said, then glanced at the sun. "Hmmm so let's think.. it's fall... the herd would be heading to the grazing grounds with the tougher grass for winter... I say we go South." she said, turning to the left abruptly.

Midnight nodded and kept a smooth pace beside her sister. Midnights ears were always pricked forward, listening for an sounds of danger. "Twily" midnight said. "do you miss your caretaker?" she asked. "maybe just even a little bit?" Midnight missed her caretaker a little, he took amazing care of her and she wondered how it would affect him when he found out she had escaped. She kept her eyes forward on the grass that lay in front of them. She stopped abruptly. "wait" she whispered, hearing a low growl. Midnight was scared to turn around, but she had to know. Slowly turning her head to where the growl came from, she saw a wolf slowly lurking towards them. "WOLF!!" She screeched. "RUN!" Without any warning, Midnight bolted forward, galloping away from the wolf

Twilight sighed "I... Well I do a little bit I suppose. He was kind, considering. And you remember our caretakers were the ones who figured out our names, and always understood when we really needed each other. But they were still humans" she said, frowning. Suddenly Midnight stopped, whispering one fearful word to her. Twilight turned her head as well, eyes widening as she saw the menacing wolf stalking towards them. It had been a long time since she'd been in the wild... and she'd almost forgotten the dangers. Suddenly Midnight bolted in the opposite direction, fear obviously controlling her. Twilight leaped forward after her sister. "Midnight, Wait!" she called as she bent her head forward, legs churning as she reveled in the strength coursing through her. It didn't take long to catch up alongside her sister. "Midnight! It's just one wolf!" she called to her, attempting to reason with her.

The memories of the wolf attack came flooding back to Midnight. "I won't let it hurt me!!" she muttered, continuing to run until she was breathless. "I got attacked by a wolf twice in my life, I don't want to make it a third." she said, her eyes flaring with fear. She turned and saw the wolf tilting its head at her. Midnights ears were pinned to the back of her head and she stomped the ground with her hoof. The wolf ducked its tail and ran. Midnight breathed a sigh of relief. "im sorry." she said. "i don't want to get attacked by another wolf, I just want to go home and be with our family." she said

Twilight ran beside her sister, understanding flashing in her eyes. Finally though, finally, she stopped, and turned to face her fear. The moment she showed bravery, the wolf scampered away. She gave a sigh and nuzzled her sister. "Hey, I understand, you know I do. But we won't find them without trials, and we have to face those trials together, side by side" she said comfortingly but firmly
