Welcome to Okazaki Academy!
Located in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, Okazaki Academy is a brand new school that just opened up two years ago. But the opening of the school was not without any controversy. During the ceremony to open the school, a student was killed when she fell down the stairs. But some students claim that she was pushed by an unseen force. Some people have said that the academy was built on an ancient burial ground and the ghosts of the past are taking their revenge. Students even claim the feeling of being watched when alone in the hallways, cold spots, and voices when no one expects them. Can you survive your time at Okazaki Academy? Or will you become the next victim? Kumiko yawned as she walked through the gates of Okazaki Academy. She had stayed up late last night studying for an exam today for her math class in room 1A. It was her second year at Okazaki Academy and she was aware of all the rumors of ghosts roaming the halls and the deaths. Students often said that they saw students walking through the hallway of the academy that were no longer with them. Luckily there was no deaths this year that they knew of. Maybe things had started to die down. Sitting down at the fountain that sat in the center of the courtyard of the school, Kumiko looked up at the Sakura trees above her. She always loved to sit outside on nice days and eat lunch or sit here before school to relax as the sounds of the water was very relaxing. The sounds of the Tokyo would disappear as she sat here and pretended that she was somewhere quiet, like a small town. Kumiko loved Tokyo, but it could be too busy for her at times. She did miss being with her cousins back in the States during her summer break as her mothers sister had married an American. Everyone was surprised that she spoke perfect English like her parents. Her aunt lived in a small town in the state of Washington. It was so nice there that it almost reminded her of home.
But now being back in Tokyo, she was happy to be home because she missed her cat, Haku. She was an adorable black and white cat with blue eyes. Haku was her everything. She spoke to Haku like she was another human being and told her everything. She did miss spending time with her father, since he was a busy doctor at Tokyo Metropolitan Hiroo Hospital. He worked as a neurosurgeon. So, he was gone a lot due to being one of the best neurosurgeon in all of Japan. Suddenly, she realized where she was as she heard the sound of people running by her to the school as the bell rang. She quickly stood up to walk to the building where she headed inside to grab her indoor shoes and placed her other shoes into the shoe locker.

Ryō, with a large soccer ball under his arm, walks away from that large expansive soccer field, located just in the back of Okazaki Academy. He had gotten here rather early, as he always did every morning, for his routine soccer practices. It was a lot of hard work, to prepare for the soccer season, and with tournaments just around the corner, he knew that he had to be at the top of his game, both physically and mentally. He knew about the rumors at Akazaki Academy......of rumored hauntings.....but he wasn't really sure that he believed them. He was starting his third and final year at the academy, and while he was hearing all of the rumors whispering down the hallways, he usually kept to himself....focusing on schoolwork and soccer. It was true sometimes....where the sky would have just a touch of the yellowish tint......indicating morning, the school grounds often had an eeriness that he couldn't explain, but always wrote off. His summer had been relatively uneventful, as he had divided his time between summer practices, and seeing his family in Hokkaido. He wasn't sure why he lived in Tokyo, as opposed to Hokkaido, but maybe it had to do with his father's job, as a biomedical engineer.
Walking up to the academy, tossing the ball up and down in his hand, he stops in front of his locker, so that he could substitute the ball in his hand, for his school books and all of his school supplies. His first class was chemistry in room 2C, and he was definitely looking forward to it. He was much more of a science buff, compared to the others in his family. Now, whether or not he was going to pick up an engineering job......that was a whole completely different story. He really wanted, at the moment, to pursue a life as a professional athlete, maybe even go to America, or even England, to play. Shutting the door to his locker, he shrugs his shoulder bag up just a bit more, as he walks up the stairs, pushing through the double doors, and into the academy.

"Kumiko! I am so glad your here! Chiyo and I were just in an argument about who the cutest senior is in the academy! We can't decide between Ryo Okada or Hiro Okazawa. You have to choose for us! Chiyo says she likes Hiro. But I really like Ryo. Please tell me you like Ryo!" Ayumi Hasagawa announced as she stood in front of Kumiko's seat in their homeroom. "Well...they are both good at sports. And I don't know who I would pick. I am not interested in who the cutest guy is in this school," Kumiko answered as she looked at her friend. She then looked over at Chiyo who was walking over. "KUMIKO! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SIDE WITH ME!" Ayumi yelled as she flailed her arms up and down. "You were supposed to say that Ryo is the cute one! He is so much better than Hiro. Why can't you decide?!" Kumiko shrugged as she looked at Ayumi. She looked out the window for a moment as she thought about the question. If she had to pick one, she would pick Ryo. But she could not let her friends know that she thought of him that way. "So..what did you say?" Chiyo asked as she walked over and adjusted her glasses. "Kumiko said she is not going to choose. Meanie head..." Ayumi pouted as she crossed her arms. "Oh...well it's okay. If she does not feel that way about anyone then that is okay," Chiyo announced with a smile as she looked at Kumiko and then adjusted the purple bow that was in Kumiko's hair. "There, much better. You did not center it today. Are you feeling okay? You seem a little off, Kumiko..." "Huh? Oh, I am fine. Just a little tired. I spent all night studying for the math exam today," Kumiko answered.

Pulling out the chair to his desk, just under the window, on the left side of the classroom, Ryo drops his bag at his feet, before reaching over to rummage through it....searching for his chemistry notebook, before placing it, and several pencils on his desk. Walking to class could often be a huge pain in the behind....because of so many high pitched and squealing girls. One would think that they had never seen a boy before. Most of them were sophomores, since they were just coming in from primary school, but some were juniors, who had known them for a while. They always came to every game, which was fine......until hearing them scream his name......was all that he could hear. It was distracting at best, and embarrassing at worst. Sighing a bit to himself, he pops open his notebook, so that he could scan his notes for the lesson, since he had finished his homework about five minutes before class had let out, yesterday. Glancing at a shadow, in the corner of his eye, he could see his classmate....Hiro Okazawa. He wasn't on the soccer team....but rather, he was the star pitcher on their baseball team, and he had his own fanclub....his own fangirls. Of course, Hiro just ignored them...as he usually did. He rarely ever talked.....rarely gave anyone....aside from his teammates and his teachers, the time of day. As usual, he had his eyes glued to his book, since he always read something outside of class...before class.
"You know, Okazawa. If Mr. Akada catches you with that, he'll confiscate it." He says, before returning his attention to his notebook. Mr. Akada was the strictest teacher in all of the senior class. Every student who had him, knew that he was almost statue-like, in the way he presented himself....and may as well have been a general in his prior years, before becoming a teacher. He didn't really mind him. He was straight to the point, and knew what he was talking about, while keeping students engaged.
"Hm...." Okazawa says, his attention never leaving his book. He knew to put it away, but for now, he was going to just read.
Ryo rolls his eyes a bit, before returning his attention to his notebook. Of course, Okazawa would respond that way. He always gave sounds, or one word answers to people that he wasn't close to.

As classes began, Kumiko seemed distracted as she did not realize that her teacher, Ami Fujioka. She was one of the more relaxed teachers in the school as she was very caring and wanted what was best for her students.
"Kumiko...are you okay?" Ami Sensei asked as she noticed that Kumiko was not paying attention during her lesson.
"Huh?" Kumiko asked as she looked from the window to the front of the room. She noticed that everyone was looking at her which caused her to blush a little. "Oh, I am fine. I am just a little tired from staying up late studying. What was the question?"
Classes could not move any slower that day as lunch finally came around. It was finally time for Kumiko to go outside and get some fresh air so that she could eat. Her friends usually joined her, but since next period would be the math exam, Kumiko felt that she had studied enough and was ready for a break. So, she headed outside to the fountain with her lunch. Today her mother had packed her bento with karage, sausage, rice in the shape of cats heads, some chopped carrots in the shape of Sakura blossoms, tamagoyaki (or rolled eggs), and some other foods that Kumiko loved. Her mother always seemed to pack her extra should she get hungry after class. But she usually just shared the extra with her friends if they were still hungry. She placed her hands together after taking off the cat printed wrapping cloth called a furoshiki and opened her bento.

Hearing the loud bell, indicating that class was done, and that it was time for lunch, Ryo stands up, grabbing his lunch bag from inside of his school bag, and leaves the room. This room was his homeroom, so every class would take place here. His next class was going to be math, and he really didn't like math. Of course, it was a necessity, as his father had told him time and time again. He usually ate his lunch on the rooftops, as usual, but this time, he figured that he would eat down on the school grounds, near the soccer fields. Today...he had several curry-pan, since he really enjoyed the spiced curry, that was stuffed in the very doughnut-like bread rolls. He also had some steamed gyoza, some unagi and steamed rice, some pickled vegetables, and a carbonated melon soda. He would probably eat alone today, since some of his friends usually ate lunch at different times. As he steps outside, he walks past the fountains, to where he sometimes ate his lunch....just underneath a young Sakura tree. Sitting down on the grass, he stretches his legs out, places his earphones in his ears, so that he could listen to music while he ate, and opens up his lunch bag, containing a decent sized bento box.

A figure in out of the corner of her eye caught her attention as she saw another student nearby. It was Ryo. Kumiko was not sure whether to join him or not as she took a bite of her gyoza. Her mother had made chicken and veggie gyoza, which was one of her favorites. Every so often, Kumiko would look at Ryo. In the back of her mind, she could hear Ayumi screaming in the back of her mind.
"GO TALK TO HIM! HE IS ONE OF THE CUTEST GUYS IN SCHOOL! I SWEAR IF YOU DON'T I WILL PUT PUDDING ALL OVER YOUR FAVORITE SAILOR MOON COSPLAY COSTUME!"
Kumiko sighed as she finally decided to stand up from her spot on the bench as she gathered everything of hers and walked over to the tree that Ryo was sitting under and sat just near him. To her, this felt awkward. But if she could make Ayumi proud, then she would do so. She looked out of the corner of her eye as she waited to see if Ryo would notice her. She almost wanted to just get back up and go back to the bench where she felt safe. But she needed to get over being shy with certain people. Her friends were her comfort zone as well. She wanted to make her friends proud that she was sprouting out.

As the song that he was listening to, comes to an end, Ryo opens his can of soda, and was about to bring it to his lips.....when a figure comes into his peripheral vision. Setting his half-eaten bento box and chopsticks down, he reaches up, taking one earbud out of his ears, to look over at the girl. "Can I help you? I don't think I know you." He asks. He didn't recognize this girl at all, but given by her uniform, she was a second year.......and not one that he had seen before. She seemed quiet and rather awkward. Was this some sort of joke? Maybe one of her friends was one of the girls who wouldn't stop shrieking his name, but he had never seen her come to one of his soccer matches. "Shouldn't you be with your friends?" He asks, eyebrow raised, as he takes a sip from his can of soda. He was feeling rather unsure about how to handle this situation, since he could be polite, but he also liked his space, and didn't really feel comfortable being approached by someone that he didn't know.

Kumiko almost blushed as she heard Ryo talk to her. She almost wanted to act like she did not hear what he had said and did not realize he was there when she had sat down. But that would be rude. So, she finally spoke. "I just felt like you needed some company. I can leave if you want," Kumiko announced. She was tempted to just get up and walk away. But that would be rude as well. "I'm Kumiko Takanawa. I think I have seen you around the academy a few times."

Ryo looks at her for a moment longer, before returning his attention to his can of soda. "Do whatever you want to, Takanawa-san. You're not squealing or shrieking in my ear, and as long as you don't do so, you're fine." He says. She seemed very shy......for a second year. Usually, by the time one was in their second year, they had developed a lot more confidence, and were usually a lot more open and sure of themselves. "My friends are currently on library duty at the moment, but just for today. Tomorrow, I'll be eating with them, in my usual place." He says. He was the only one that didn't have library duty, since he took part in the afternoon clean up team. He always went home pretty late after school, since he stayed to help clean up classrooms and hallways. It was also why he had helped in requesting that soccer practices took place in the morning. "I can't say that I've seen you around before." He says.

"You haven't? I am a second year. I am always hanging out with Chiyo Kimura and Ayumi Hasagawa. They are also second years and in my class, 1A," Kumiko answered before she took a bite of her tamagoyaki. She then took a drink of her strawberry soda. Strawberry was her favorite when it came to fruits. She looked at Ryo for a moment and then back down at her lunch. "I am the leader of the cosplay club here. I just started it this year. I know that you are part of the soccer team. Do you have any other things or clubs that you are apart of? Kumiko was not sure what to say since she was a little shy. She could just imagine Ayumi yelling out the window on the second floor that she better not be stealing Ryo from her.

Ryo looks over at Takanawa, raising an eyebrow. "Who? I don't think that I know them either." He says. None of those names rung a bell to him....mainly because he ran into so many girls at school. After a while, all of the names and faces sort of intermingled, and they all started to look alike after a while. "Don't take it personally....I don't think that you or your friends are in my friend group. I don't really have friends in the second year, unless they're on the soccer team. I see that you've noticed that I'm on the soccer team, no I'm not the striker, nor am I the captain. I am the vice captain though." He says. He knew that some people tended to think that he was the captain, since he sometimes stood out a bit more, but that role went to Daisuke Hidaka. "You're from the cosplay club....are you? Well, I can't say that I'm all that interested in that, though my sister is. She might've joined recently." He says. Hana was very different from him, more outgoing. She wasn't interested in sports...but rather, she played the clarinet in the music department, and she was a bit more interested in anime, than he was. "I may be on the soccer team, but I'm not in the soccer club. I'm in the rock music club. It was started by my friend Kenzo. " He asks, picking up his chopsticks again, so that he could scoop up a piece of unagi and rice.

"Hana is really nice. I like her. She has helped me a few times when I could not find the right materials for my Princess Serenity costume. I had so much fun with her," Kumiko announced as she thought about his sister. "I have also seen her around school. We talk every once in a while." She took another bite of her food before speaking again. "I was wondering, maybe we can hang out outside of school some time. You seem really nice, Ryo." Kumiko blushed a little at the thought of her friends finding out that she wanted to spend some time with Ryo. She hoped that he did not see her blush, so she turned away for a moment and acted like she needed something to drink.

Ryo looks over at Takanawa, his eyebrow raised. "You're a bit too comfortable, Tanakawa-san, using my first name on our first meeting. I like to start things slow, even friendships. If you want to get to know me, that's fine, just remember that you're a kouhai, so you'll need to work your way up. I often go to the arcade after soccer practice with my friends. I suppose you can come and hang out, if you see me there. But I'm not quite comfortable being alone with just you. No offense, Takanawa-san, but we don't know each other that well, or are close enough to be on that close of a friend basis." He says, finishing the rest of his lunch, before sticking the now empty containers back into his bag. Reaching up, he pulls the other ear bud out of his ear, before placing his music player and ear buds back into their case, and stuffs them both into the front pouch of his bag.
