"Test?" Sugar exclaimed, her eyes growing wide. "what test?" she asked, as she turned to look at Galmur. "Is this test hard?" she asked. "I...I can't take a test...I don't know what they want of me, what if its to hard" she asked

Galmúr's eyes widened in surprise. A test? He looked down to Sugar, then nudged her reassuringly "I'm sure it's not a huge test, and I'm sure we'll be able to do it together, whatever it is" he said, glancing over to Artemis to see how she felt about this. "Nacho, do they even test yearlings?" he asked, turning back to the old donkey.

Artemis's ears pricked forward, a test? This sounds exciting. '' 'Fraid so,'' answered the donkey, ''but they do, 'o course, alter some things dependin' on age. Ye three would take the yearling test, what it consists of is speed, endurance, agility, teamwork, and a couple 'o other odds and ends to figure out what place ye'll have in the herd, but speed is the main one, hence the name Swifthoof.''

"I can tell you that we are all very speedy" Sugar said, as she reared up on her back legs. "But...what if one of us..isn't as speedy as the other two...?" she asked, meaning herself. "Would...would that horse still get in, or would they fail the test?" she asked, as she was not quite the best runner

Galmúr couldn't help but glance over at Sugar as she reared up suddenly, then he smothered a smile at her admittance of her slower pace. "I'm sure it would be ok, especially since it's about teamwork as well" he quickly said, turning to Nacho. "I'd say if there's a test, we're the best trio to take it. We'll beat it no problem" he said confidently, glancing over to Artemis who looked rather excited by the idea of a test.

Nacho bounced his head up and down, ''good, because all know that determination is key,'' he said. Artemis glanced at Galmúr, then at Sugar, ''Galmúr's right Sugar, we can beat it no problem if we work together.'' Nacho smiled to himself at the yearlings' enthusiasm.

Sugar nodded slightly, still a little bit unsure of herself, but she tried to keep a positive mind. "Do you think we could go now?" she asked, as she pawed the ground nervously. "If we need to take a test...I would like to get it over with" she said as she looked down at the ground and then back up at Nacho.

Galmúr smiled over at Artemis, his determination growing, and he felt just a bit of excitement at the idea of a test. Because he knew that they would crush it and show the doubting herd what true teamwork was. At Sugar's question he glanced down in surprise. "Now? I don't know Sugar, we've been traveling for two days so it might be better to rest up and make sure we're all ready for it" he said doubtfully, glancing to Nacho, then Artemis.

Reluctantly Artemis had to agree with this, though she was of Sugar's mind to leave immediately. Nacho bobbed his head, ''wise choice, wise choice young buckerskin ye should wait a day er two till ye've regained yer strength.''

[Abbster]

"But...but I have energy!" Sugar protested, as a yearling walked into the open, and stood beside Nacho. "Nacho..." he said, as he looked at the three horses. "who are they?" he asked curiously, as he tilted his head. "I'm Gus. I live with the Swift herd" he said. "I over heard Nacho telling my mother about you three last night" Gus said. "So I just wanted to see for myself, I suppose"

Galmúr gave a nod at the old donkeys words, then glanced over at Sugar as she spoke excitedly. "I know you may think that right now, but we really do need to rest first" he said firmly. At the sound of a strange voice he suddenly whipped his head back around, stepping forward slightly at the sight of the yearling colt. When he said Nacho had told them, he glanced over to Nacho with a slight frown. He hadn't expected him to tell the herd, since he'd promised they could stay in the forest safely, and hadn't said anything about making their presence known to the herd. Especially not in their first day of being in the forest. His attention shifted back to the yearling, and he gave a short nod to him. "Nice to meet you" he said politely "I'm Galmúr" he paused, then added suddenly "Pardon if this seems abrupt, but I believe myself and my friends need to take some respite. I hope we can get to know one another in a later time" he said, dipping his head slightly before stepping back, indicating to the two fillies that they should leave. He was in no state of mind to strike up friendly conversation with a yearling stranger.

Artemis was surprised that the donkey would have told the herd, but then again if he was known as a sort of protector to them it was his job. At the appearance of the yearling her ears flattened slightly, where did he come from? But trying to appear civil she followed Galmúr's lead and introduced herself. ''Im Artemis,'' she said, then seeing Galmúr leave quietly followed after.

Sugar turned to go, but something about the yearling stopped her. She tiled her head and looked at him, she didn't even notice when her friends left. "So, Gus" Sugar said. "What's the herd like?" she asked. "Uh..." Gus stuttered. "I think your friends are leaving" he said. Sugar turned and gasped. "GUYS WAIT FOR ME!" Sugar called, racing after them

Galmúr held his breath slightly, almost praying that Sugar wouldn't give into her innate curiosity, and would follow them. He relaxed as he heard Sugar scrambling after them, glancing back to the two fillies and slowing slightly so they could catch up and they could all walk together. "So... I guess the herd knows about us then" he said quietly to Artemis.

''I guess, but we can't blame Nacho he was doing his job after all. Maybe its a good thing, the herd will now know of us a little instead of of three strange yearlings showing up,'' she looked at Sugar then Galmúr waiting for their thoughts.
