Sugar plunged into the water after him. The cool water flowing over her scratches. She smiled and let out a relaxed sigh. “Oh this water feels SO good” Sugar said, with a huge smiled as she followed Artemis through the water. She began trotting along in the water, as it flowed faster along her scratches.

Galmúr chuckled slightly, then plowed into the water after Sugar, his strong young legs thrusting and pushing him onwards through the cool, refreshing water. For a moment the question of why this even counted as a test sprang to his mind, but he quickly shoved it away, enjoying the relaxation of the quite non challenge. The current got a bit stronger underneath him, swirling around his legs as he swam, but he thought nothing of them. Until suddenly a strong one seemed to slam into his legs, pushing him sideways slightly. He gave a gasp, jerking alert and straining his muscles to pull himself from the grip of the pulling water. He should have known this wouldn't be easy. His mind racing a hundred miles a minute, he yelled to the two fillies ahead of him, one word."UNDERCURRENTS!"

But Artemis was already having a hard time as an especially strong current actually pulled her under, thrusting her powerful legs on the lake floor she pushed herself upwards looking back to see how her friends were faring.

Sugar screeched in alarm. She lunged forward, her head down towards the water, as currents were pulling her to the side. Her heart pounding in fear, Sugar pushed forward, and climbed out on the opposite side of the bank, panting. She flopped down on the ground and waited for her friends to exit the stream as well

Galmúr thrashed against the current as another seemed to grip him. He was vaguely aware of Artemis somewhere ahead of him struggling as well, but all his concentration was focused on fighting the silent undercurrents. Finally he broke free and surged forwards, only to feel himself swept to the side and almost under, by another large one. With a sudden determined whinny he thrust himself forwards, muscles straining as he pulled himself towards the promise of dry land.

Artemis could feel her strength begin to wan as she neared the edge but still she pushed on as hard as she could. When she finally reached shore Artemis looked back to see Galmúr struggling to break free from the current. She watched with fearful eyes as he bravely battled the current, then gave a winny of joy when he reached land. Looking down to see Sugar sides heaving she was all over her with concern, ''Oh Sugar how do you feel?''

"Scared.." Sugar mumbled in a shaky voice, her body hadn't stopped trembling. "I..I almost got swept away again" She said, as she trembling on the ground. As she tried to calm herself down, she scooted herself closer to Artemis and pressed herself against her, her body still trembling, and dripping wet. "To...to much water" she said, as her eyes were glazed with fear in her eyes.

Galmúr gritted his teeth, eyes flashing with pure determination as he pushed himself through the currents, finally breaking free from them and stumbling slightly as he hit dry land, stepping high as he surged out of the lake, only too eager to get away from it. Once on real dry land he shook himself, his breath heaving slightly from the exertion. After a few moments he recovered, and quickly looked to the two fillies, moving tiredly over to them. "Well" he said, unsure of what to say as Sugar spoke, then giving her a slight smile. "You know you were the first to make it to shore" he pointed out.

Artemis nuzzled Sugar and nodded to Galmúr, ''he's right, you even beat me!''

"I did?" Sugar asked, her eyes beginning to glow with excitement. "I got out first?" she asked, standing up suddenly and shaking herself dry.

Galmúr smiled at the immediate change that took over her and nodded "Yes, you did" he confirmed, then shook his wet mane again. "I think we earned ourselves a quick break, just for a few minutes maximum though" he said swiftly, turning and approaching the shoreline cautiously and dipping his muzzle to the water.

Sugar had to press against Artemis in order to get herself over to the stream. She bent her head, and took a nice, long, drink of water. Finally, her legs stopped trembling and she was starting to feel better. "and that is why I HATE water" Sugar exclaimed.

Galmúr glanced over as the two fillies joined him at the water's edge, an involuntary chuckle slipping out at her words. "Well... I think that's a pretty well founded statement now" he agreed, then shook himself once again, moving further towards the land and grabbing a few bites of grass as fast as he could, knowing that every moment they rested brought them closer to disqualification.

Artemis took a long drink, ''I think I'm ready to continue now,'' she said lifting her dripping muzzle from the water, ''what do you say Sugar?''
