Jinx looked at Vidra "Yeah that's probably a good idea not that I mind rain" Jinx said, she then noticed Cyrus was calm and relaxed he probably never experienced rain as she did, she was amused by his reaction and watched him for a bit before walking towards the deer and picking it up with her powerful jaws, she was surprised by the weight difference it was much lighter and easier to carry, she could just imagine Jester running beside her his much shorter coat fluffed up, she shook off that thought and refocused on the deer she was carrying, she was beside Vidra waiting for Cyrus to follow them.

Cyrus looked at Vidra "Where will we even go this is a park as in open spaces nowhere to shelter" Cyrus pointed out as he walked over to join Jinx and Vidra, he noticed both of their coats were different more vibrant his own coat which was mostly greyish blue on a white background was more sleek looking, sure he was smaller than a border collie but he had his advantages he was much lower to the ground and could get into areas Jinx and Vidra couldn't, one day as a puppy he had somehow entered a small den that at the time was taken by a skunk he had been sprayed and then scolded by his owner and his mother for being too curious.

Vidra nodded shaking herself once more and attempting to scent the air as she commented to Jinx "I don't mind it either, but if the meat gets too moist we won't be able to preserve it for later" she said, then glanced over and gave a pleased nod as Jinx hefted up the deer in her strong jaws. The rain was swiftly washing away all traces of scent, and she hadn't been able to pick up any old fox or coyote dens, but surely there would be something useful around! A moment later, Cyrus padded up to them and voiced her thoughts. She looked thoughtful and squinted through the rain. "Well, I remember seeing an offshoot creek from the lake, and if we follow that we should find some eroded areas, and maybe even an old ravine or drain pipe" she said, adding "It would work for the time being, until we can scout out the area more. We need to find ourselves a base den until then". After glancing around for another second, she moved forward, barking over her shoulder "This way, and Jinx, if you need help at all with that deer don't hesitate to ask"

Jinx would follow Vidra so far the deer wasn't too heavy but her paws were having a hard time gaining traction on the wet ground, she wasn't scared of the mud and wet dirt but the deer needed to be kept out of the wet ground, "Vidra can you help me with the deer I'm struggling to keep my footing on the wet ground" Jinx managed to say, she didn't fall but her paws were slipping on the mud and wet dirt, she looked back at the sheltie he was starting to get covered in mud which would not be fun to clean once they got to a nice sheltered area.

Cyrus was struggling with the wet ground and had already slipped following Jinx and Vidra, his belly was covered in mud that was clinging to his coat he didn't mind the mud but it would be a pain to clean once they found somewhere dry, his smaller size made it more difficult for him to walk as the mud was already up to his knees and some if it was clinging to his tail, he could just imagine what Jinx and Vidra were thinking of him as he followed them to the creek by the lake.

Vidra scrambled up the slippery banks. The wet, muddy ground was certainly a challenge, but not as much for her as the other, more domesticated, nail filed dogs. Her claws dug into the mud, anchoring her securely as she gained momentum, getting a steady pace. Her ears flicked as she heard Jinx bark at her from behind, and she quickly turned, letting herself slide down until she reached Jinx, once again digging her claws in. "Of course!" she said, quickly picking up the deer from the other side and beginning to climb steadily. Once they got over the bank they should be able to follow the creek... at least she hoped they'd be able to. Glancing back again she almost smiled at the unhappy look on Cyrus's face as she sheltie trudged through the mud, which was really quite high on him. She wanted to reassure him that they were almost there, but her mouth was quite full.

Jinx would help Vidra with the deer between the two of them the deer was kept out of the muddy ground, Jinx could feel her nails gripping into a solid patch of the bank and was no longer slipping on the mud she was able to keep her balance and pace with Vidra as they were nearing the top of the bank, she finally could find purchase on the ground as her paws and nails dug into the ground finding solid spots as they climbed the bank she was helping Vidra as much as Vidra was helping her with the deer, she glanced back at Cyrus he looked miserable which she found a little amusing considering he had been stuck in a daydream minutes ago and had completely ignored her and Vidra until he had snapped out of it.

Cyrus found the determination to keep climbing as he felt more mud clinging to his fur and legs, he then found a spot where he could put his nails into and dug them into the ground he was a little bit behind the two bigger dogs but he had been an agility dog used to obstacles that involved climbing and he quickly gained ground and matched their pace, he wasn't going to stop to admire Vidra no matter what his mind and body had to focus on climbing the bank he ignored the mud clinging to his fur and legs, he just prayed there would be a spot for him to clean his fur and legs once they finished the climb as it would be a grooming nightmare.

Vidra glanced over as Cyrus and Jinx found footing and were able to keep pace with her. The deer was pretty heavy, and she was impressed that Jinx had been able to carry it that far alone. Finally, the top was in sight, and with one last pull, she was over the top. Gripping the deer she helped pull Jinx over the top, then glanced over to see if Cyrus needed help.

Jinx would wait for Cyrus she wanted to get to shelter fast or else the deer would be ruined and she was too exhausted to try hunting again, she could hear the birds in the tree they seemed just as confused over the change in there being no humans anywhere, she had missed her human before but now she was enjoying herself having no one to chase except the prey which the pack would need, she knew that she had been the only dog in the police kennel but that didn't make her feel safe, as it meant that her fellow canines were also having to figure out how to live without there humans which meant they could track her scent too and could attack Vidra or Cyrus.

Cyrus climbed the final few inches and almost fell as he stood on solid ground again, he could hear dogs barking in the distance great that meant that there were more dogs out there which they needed to be cautious about, he looked at Vidra "Where to now" he said as he looked at Jinx's long haired coat some of her fur was covered in mud that would be a pain to remove he could also see some burrs sticking to her fur and Vidra also had mud and burrs sticking to her fur too, this was going to be a fun but rough first few days in the wild one which Cyrus wanted to see through he wasn't really sure what happened to the humans but at this point, he didn't care they were not his pack nor family at this point Jinx and Vidra were.

Vidra smiled at them both "Well, we tackled that literal mountain!" she said encouragingly, then turned to look down into the creek, which was rushing rather violently due to the rainfall. "Just a little ways... I think I remember coming here once actually" she said suddenly, a memory surfacing of her running off once when she was young. "If my memory is accurate.. we need to follow the creek for about a fourth of a mile" she said, then crouched to pick up the deer again, knowing it was pretty heavy.

Jinx would walk behind Vidra she would help Vidra if it was needed, she didn't mind climbing but it hadn't been fun as there had been a real danger of possibly being injured but luckily none of them were injured in that climb just dirty, and caked in mud, she looked back to see Cyrus the sheltie didn't look too pleased but that was the least of her concern, right now finding a place to shelter and keep dry was much more important as the deer she caught could feed them for a long while but if it was ruined it would mean that one of them would have to go hunting with very low energy from the climbing.

Cyrus followed behind Jinx he was miserable and wanted to find somewhere to wash his fur out but there was no stopping Jinx and Vidra they were focused on keeping the deer from being ruined, he had heard about the creek and he had known about a really bad dog attack that had happened up in that area it was between a stray dog and a pet dog that had gotten off leash, the fight still played in his mind as he had been near that area when it had happened to do some off-leash training with his owner, he had to push that thought out of his mind it was highly unlikely any stray lived in that area now.

Vidra picked her way through the underbrush, heading along the creek. Once in a while she glanced back to make sure the other two were doing ok. Jinx looked slightly grim and determined, but Cyrus looked plain miserable and scared. Her eyes softened slightly. The poor sheltie wasn't used to this kind of life, as domesticated as he had been. But he would learn. They all would. Finally, a few minutes later, she noticed the offshoot from the creek and sped up slightly. Reaching the edge of the embankment, she glanced down... right into the perfect rock den. "OH, look at this guys!" she barked. "It looks like it could keep us and the deer dry and safe for the moment, and when the rain is done and it starts getting drier we can look for a better place if we need to" she added.
