A long long time ago, elemental dragons ruled a large portion of the earth. They flew, wild and free, the top of the food chain. Until man. The Humans came into their land, spreading far and wide rapidly, and setting up forts and villages. Many of these were evil, who immediately began hunting the dragons for their horns and scales, or just for the trophy. But others banded together, forming the Dragon Riders. This group believed the dragons to be smarter than others thought, and that they could tame them, even ride them. And so they did. They grew in numbers over the years, different groups branching out all over the earth. And soon, wild dragons became almost a legend, a myth. How rare it was to even find one of these beasts! Plenty of wyverns flew around the cliffs, to small and skittish to be of any use. All dragons were either captured by evil riders and poachers, or saved by the Dragon Riders. The Evil Riders soon began raiding the Dragon Riders, and a full blown war began sparking between them. 

And in the midst of this... four characters. One a wild starry dragon, believing humans deserve death. One a tamed frosty dragon, who's past haunts her. One a human man, who believes dragons are so much more than others think. And the last, a rider girl, who loves her dragon more than life.

This was their life.
This was their journey.
This is their story to tell, so listen well, dragonlings.

Appearance: Vervada
Her entire body is a dark dark purple, almost black. Her wing membranes are shimmering shades of purple nebulae, and her eyes are pure violet. She has two curving horns, and a strong tail. Hard scales cover her body, sharpening as they reach her tail until they become sharp spikes.
Personality: Vervada is honestly a fearsome sight, having the rare and powerful element of space. Being a wild dragon, she is naturally fierce and wary, preferring to travel at night where she can blend in with the starry heavens. And her personality matches. Born to hate the humans and their "pet" dragons, she has grown to be full of malice, with her only purpose being to destroy the humans.
Backstory: Her mother was a star dragon, her father a night dragon, though she doesn't remember her mother, as she got captured just a few months after Vervada was born. Born in the wild, Vervada was taught by her father to be fierce, and to hate anything the humans touched. Over and over he told the story of her mother's capture, until the very mention of humans would throw her into a rage. When she aged to 10 her father told her he had taught her all he could, and that he was leaving for the Sacred Plains, (a mythological place of free dragons) and wouldn't be back. She chose to stay, and both said goodbye without emotion. He flew away, and she continued her life, putting to use each and every skill her father had taught her. The one thing he couldn't teach her was her own skills, so every night she would wait for that surge of knowing. When she was 5 she had found her UV light blast power. Suddenly one night she felt it, and opening her wings, she began beating them faster and faster in front of her, back and forth until they became a blur of light, which began to take shape, forming into a hole. Without hesitation she plunged through it, and found herself an hours flight from her home. Her wormhole power had awakened. This new power gave her even more confidence in her strength, and she began flying closer and closer to the territory of the humans, often watching them from a distance. She was planning an attack. But she knew she must reach the age of at least 15 before she could attack, the age when every dragon got their strongest power. And so she plotted and watched, never being seen, never being heard. Finally the night came, and she turned 15. A few days later as she stood on the outlook of her cave, her power of powers awoke. Her mind automatically focused on a far away star, and she could feel its power streaming down to her horns, filling her with strength. Opening her maw, she let out a roar.. except it was different. Her UV light mixed with the power of the star, and a fierce violet stream of power blasted over the land, ending in an explosion. She sat still, shocked for a few seconds, then a smile spread across her face. Finally, her answer to how to destroy the humans. Every night she began practicing her powers, and finding her own weaknesses. When the time came, she would be ready.
Element: Space/Nebulae
Powers: Able to create wormholes to travel instantly to other lands. She also expels powerful UV light blasts that can glow so brightly it can blind you. If it is night she is also able to summon power from a star, storing this force in her horns until she expels it along with her UV rays, creating mini nova!
Other: Her few weaknesses are: Cloudy nights where she is cut off from the night sky, unless she flies high enough. Day time in general, when she tends to hide out in caves.

Age: 25
Appearance: Everest
Personality: Everest is a cold and calculating dragon, and extremely loyal. Many see her as cruel and anti-social, but none can deny her huge stature and amazing combat ability. She is very distrusting, and currently only trusts her rider, Aria, but once you gain her trust the side she hides comes to light and she is secretly a very kind and sensitive dragon.
Backstory: Hatched in captivity and raised by humans, Everest is usually seen by most as intimidating because of her huge size and solid build, but under all her tough exterior she is secretly a softy. Years of being seen as a frightening beast has caused her to hide that side of her though, and put up a shield to hide her pain. With almost everyone scared of her, except her rider who she loves, she never really had a friend. Along with her scary appearance many were jealous of her amazing fighting ability, sour about the fact that she has yet to lose a fight. These factors caused her to hide her true feelings under a cold and untrusted layer of ice.
Element: Ice
Powers: A freezing ice breath, able to breathe an icy mist similar to smoke, and with extreme concentration she can create and control a miniature blizzard.
Other: High temperatures weaken her.

(context: Vervada has just been caught red clawed after having the earth dragons steal some fish for Everest and herself.)

Vervada huffed at Everest's grin, but allowed Daell to keep petting her, glad they seemed to have dropped the earth dragon subject. Daell just grinned and continued petting Vervada, glancing over as Aria spoke of Everest's weight. "Hmm you're right! I wonder if Vervada's been sneaking her snacks" he said, pretendedly glaring at the space dragon. She was busy grinning over at Everest "Ha" she said simply, but it turned to slight pouting when she heard that Everest would get to fly soon. Letting out a huff she growled slightly at Daell, who was now talking to Aria again. "That's good, I bet if you had waited any longer Vervada would have convinced those earth dragons to kidnap a healer again" he said laughing slightly. He also sighed as she mentioned flying though. "Man you're lucky. With the stunt Vervada pulled i'll probably be forced to do even more training before we get that far" he said, a wistful look in his eyes.

Aria laughed at Daell's comments, "I wouldn't be surprised, they certainly are impatient it would seem." Everest perked up slightly at the mention of being able to fly soon, forgetting her annoyance about them mentioning her weight. Her wings shifted slightly against her back, causing a slight wince as she jostled her injured wing. She couldn't wait to be able to go back into the air. Her pen was nice and the community pen was certainly fun, but she missed the feeling of the wind rushing past her face. Aria gave Daell a sympathetic glance, "I'm sure the two of you will be in the air in no time, Vervada has been doing pretty good in her training so far. You might be able to lead her around the community pen soon too!"

Vervada perked up slightly as Aria spoke, listening for Daells response. She hadn't thought really about the consequences of her earth dragons, but even if she had she probably would have done it anyway. A grin slipped over her muzzle at the idea of going into the community pen. How many dragons would be terrified of her? It would be quite the interesting experiment! That thought in her mind still she turned to Everest. "In your small travels to the community pen these past few days, have any dragons mentioned me at all? I haven't really thought about... socializing. she said, hissing the word out as if it were unpleasant. Daell glanced over at her hiss, smiling slightly "I hope so, I bet she has a lot of energy she wants to get out. Really, i'm not sure if I'm glad that she and Everest get along so well or not.. together the two of them seem to always be cooking up some sort of mischief!" he said with a rueful laugh.

Everest tilted her head in thought, “hmmmm, I don’t really talk to anyone other than Spike. I think he asked me about you one time because his water dragon friends talked about you and it is safe to say they might be more scared of you than they are of me, and that’s saying something,” she said with a smirk. Aria sighed, “I’m completely with you.” Her fond smile contradicted her exasperated voice. “I will say though I haven’t see Everest this happy in awhile.” Everest huffed at her, slightly embarrassed. Her human could sound so cheesy at times.

Vervada grinned at that "Hmm that's good to know... well i'll have to be sure not to disappoint when I do end up going there" she said, a glint of mischief already resurfacing in her eyes. Daell gave a slight laugh of agreement "Yes, and if not for Everest, who knows how this whole thing with Vervada may have turned out!" he said, glancing up at the dark violet dragon. She snorted, but deigned to lower her nose again for him to pet. Really, she hadn't been THAT bad... had she? Well anyway, she probably would have turned out fine after a bit, Everest couldn't get all the credit!

Everest grinned at Vervada's reply. She couldn't wait to see how those encounters turned out! Her mind drifted slightly to Spike and she smirked thinking about how they could team up on him. Ha, he would be in for a surprise. At Daell's comment her mind went back to when she first met Vervada and she wrinkled her snout, her paw instinctively rising up to brush against the pink scar over her eye. Vervada had certainly given her a piece of her mind that day, but honestly it was understandable and Everest didn't even blame her for it. She winced remembering her first encounter with the wild dragon. There had certainly been some heated words exchanged between them and she clearly remembered the threats against Aria. Vervada was completely unrecognizable from the deadly wild dragon in the beginning. At Daell's statement she gave Vervada a smug smirk and tossed her head pridefully, teasing her friend. Aria laughed, "I'm just glad everything worked out like it did. If it wasn't for Vervada though I don't know if me or Everest would even be here right now,"

Vervada's quick eyes caught the motion Everest made, and, not for the first time, she felt a pang of guilt. She hated herself every time she remembered how badly she'd hurt Everest... and tried to kill Aria. She shuddered slightly. Thankfully, the two humans kept talking, distracting her from her thoughts. At Aria's comment she returned Everest's smirk, then laughed "Call it even, I suppose?" she said. Daell nodded, rubbing his hand down her scaley nose. "That's true... I didn't really know what would happen when I let her out, but boy am I glad I did!" he gave a short laugh, shaking his head in wonder. "Wow it's been quite the journey with these two" he remarked.

Everest gave Vervada a smile, it wasn't like she had held anything against her anyway. "Sure." she said, grinning to her friend. It seemed like so long ago that Vervada had come here, but had it really only been a few weeks? Aria nodded in agreement to Daell, just when she opened her mouth to say something a shout came from the other end of the hall. "STOP HIM!" Everest immediately rose to her paws and peered out the bars, snorting in surprise as she saw a familiar furry gray ice dragon running down the hall with a wild grin on his face and a large bird in his mouth. She caught a glimpse of a saddle still on his back and stared dumbfoundedly. As he ran past he seemed to recognize her and the grin on his face grew larger. "Lok Wht I gt on ptrol! (look what I got on patrol)" He muffledly said, proudly raising the large bird higher in the air as he ran past her cage.

Vervada smiled in return, once again feeling an overwhelming amount of relief and joy that she had Everest as a friend. What would she do without her? Suddenly a commotion echoed down the halls, and an ice dragon came racing down the path, a large bird in his mouth. Vervada blinked, jaw dropping in dumbfoundedness before she regained her thoughts. Wait a minute, was that.. Spike? She turned to Everest,a grin growing on her face as she watched her reaction. Daell managed to jump against the cages just in time as the ice dragon bounded towards them, his eyes wide with surprise. "What on earth??!!" he exclaimed as he recognized the fuzzy thing in it's mouth to be a large bird.

Everest had no idea how in the world he caught a bird or how he was now racing through the compound. Aria shouted in dismay and ran out of her pen, hurridly shutting the pen door before racing after the dragon. "SPIKE!! GET BACK HERE NOW!" Arias usually soft voice shouted after him. A blond girl came running down the hallway from where Spike had came, face red and panting hard. "He caught the bird on patrol and when we landed I tried to take it away from him but I let go of his lead!" The exausted girl shouted after Aria, who was about to run after the dragon, she paused for a second though and seemed to change her mind, realising there was very little chances of catching up with a dragon on foot. With a flurry of movements she grabbed Everest's saddle and a halter and put it on Everest much to her surprise. The blond girl seemed to catch on and rushed to help her, tightening down the straps. Aria lept onto the saddle, and using the leadrope urged Everest after her as the blond girl threw the gate open. "No flying!" Aria managed to yelp out as Everest burst out of her pen with a gleeful grin on her face. Everest had gotten used to running in the past few days without being able to fly and quickly turned a corner and dissapeared from sight of the pens. The blond girl stared after them, before glancing over at Daell. "Soooooo, how has your day been?" she said sheepishly.

Vervada snorted with laughter at Aria as she raised her voice uselessly after the mischievous dragon, then attempted to run after him. A blonde girl suddenly appeared and she paused her mirth to examine her. Hmm a new human, how curious! But oh how foolish, who lets go of a dragons lead and expects it to stay still? She definitely would have done the same in his case. Her amusement changed to mild jealousy and surprise as Aria raced back into Everests cage and began saddling her, slipping a halter onto her face. In a whirlwind of movement Everest burst out of her cage, racing down the corridor with a wide grin on her face. Vervada scowled after her. Hmph. Of course SHE gets to go have some fun, she thought, suddenly grumpy, and completely forgetting her earlier escapade. The sound faded down the corridor, so she turned back to Daell, to find the blonde girl conversing with him. Daell had watched all this commotion with surprise, keeping himself plastered to her cage for safety, not enjoying the idea of him becoming a pancake. He gazed after Everest and Aria as they swept around the corner, obviously envious as well. Then the blonde girl spoke to him, so he turned to her. "Oh" he said, mildly wearily "Well I think the dragons must be communicating in some way to cause as much commotion today as possible." he shook his head, glancing back at Vervada and she tilted her head at him, attempting to look innocent. He snorted at her, then turned back to the girl "I decided to take this one for a walk today, first time outside her cage on a lead, and what does she do but drag me over to the earth dragons, have some sort of meeting with them, then drag me back here. And then a few hours later a convoy of the same earth dragons smuggled some fish over to Everest and Vervada. I don't know why they seem to listen to her!" he said despairingly. Vervada grinned. If only he knew!

Everest's paws flashed against the cool stone of the floor, the excitement and thrill of the chase spurring her on faster. Aria held on tightly to the saddle, moving in tune with Everest's movements to keep herself centered in the saddle and easier for Everest to carry. "No flying girl, I'm serious," Aria warned again, making sure Everest heard her. She merely snorted in reply as she ran down the long hallway. All along the way stablehands and handlers alike shouted to Aria, obviously already aware of the problem that had ran past and giving directions. After a couple of turns she spotted a furry gray tail just as it turned a corner and grinned, opening her mouth to roar loudly. "You better get back here Spike! I know a few people who want to give you a piece of their mind!" She roared, a gleam of amusement peppering her voice. She turned the corner after him and he was already looking back after hearing her roar. He yelped in surprise and tried to dart away again but it was to late, she charge straight towards him and tackled him to the ground with a playful snarl. He tried to wiggle away but she expertly pressed down on his wings and he stopped moving. Once he knew the game was up, before Everest could stop him he gobbled up the bird, feathers and all before smirking at her. She hissed in annoyance but didn't move as Aria dismounted and walked up to the dragon's snout. Everest smirked down at him as his grin melted away to a sheepish smile at the human. The blond girl looked over at Daell with disbeleif, "Seriously? And I thought Spike was an exception," She said with a tired sigh. "Adult dragons are way different from all the hatchlings at the nursery. I was working there before Spike was shipped here from another compound." She paused, remembering she hadn't introduced herself, "Oh yeah, my names Tira by the way," she said with a smile.

Vervada raised her head as high as she could as a roar echoed down the halls, wishing to be part of the excitement. True she'd already caused quite the commotion today, but really, it wasn't fair that Everest was out there chasing down Spike while she was stuck in her boring cage. With a sigh she turned half her attention to Daell and the girl as they started chatting. "That's for sure!" Daell said with a slight laugh "Dragons do tend to have quite the sense of humor. As long as they aren't nature or earth dragons, those ones are a lot calmer, although they can obviously cause a commotion if they want to" he said, ruefully remembering the band from earlier. He smiled as she introduced herself, reaching his hand out in greeting "Pleased to meet you, I'm Daell. I'm sure you already know, but this here is Vervada" he said in response to the deep rumble from behind him, turning to grin fondly at her before turning back to Tira. "So, are you Spike's rider?" he asked curiously.

Everest and Spike walked side by side as a grumpy Aria held tightly onto the two leadropes, leading them back towards Everest's pen. Everest smirked and glanced sideways at Spike. "Wow, I knew you were slow but I didn't realize you were that slow. I took a good nap before even chasing you," She said, feigning a yawn. Her comment didn't seem to phase him at all, and instead he grinned. "Apparently not fast enough to catch me before I ate the bird, your just jealous you didn't get any," He jabbed. She hissed at that, annoyed because she actually was very hungry right now. "No, I'm just annoyed you made me fun through the halls when I was about to take a nap," She hissed, nipping lightly at his shoulder. He yelped dramatically and Aria tugged on her halter, "Everest, leave him alone," the human said, not even looking back. Spike smirked as Everest glared at him.

Tira reached out and shook Daell's hand, nodding her head. "Yeah, I used to just help train hatchlings but they were short staffed on riders and promoted me to him. It's definitely a lot different than the babies but I couldn't imagine giving him up ever. And Aria has been super helpful with showing me the ropes." She said with a smile. She paused for a moment and registered what he had said. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise. "Wait, that's Vervada? The feral dragon that was brought in a couple weeks ago?!" She said, shock obvious in her voice as she stared at the purplish black dragon (if that's wrong correct me haha). "But she doesn't look nearly as vicious as everyone has been telling me lately?"
